Spay-Day March/April 2012

It's been a great couple of weeks for the feral cats in Harvey Cedars and the Barnegat area!  Several volunteers spent countless sleepless nights trapping and caring for 42 cats.  All 42 cats were  spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, dewormed, microchipped and ear-tipped on two successive Saturday clinics, 3/31 and 4/7.  A huge Thank You to all who were part of this effort, especially the Associated Humane Societies, who sent their fabulous mobile spay/neuter clinic, their amazing veterinarians and vet techs, Harvey Cedars Police Department, Harvey Cedars mayor Jonathan Oldham, Dottie Reynolds, President, FRIENDS of the Ocean County Animal Shelter, Kathy Gross, FRIENDS Vice President and Lucky’s Bed and Biscuit who graciously permitted the mobile clinic to use their parking lot on round two of spay day.  Others volunteers we could not have done this without include Brooke, whose house (and garage) became headquarters for one of the events, Melissa, who was thoughtful enough to bring some yummy snacks and efficiently helped with tons of paperwork, Linda whose trapping expertise was truly appreciated, Donna who is new to TNR but stepped up to help prepare traps and my amazingly resourceful and patient husband Tom who, through it all,  always did more than was asked.  Without you all the success of this first round of spay/neuter would not have been possible!
